Demonstration
A day in the life of Dr. Martin, who is a primary care physician with a medium sized community practice. Her patients depend on her for coordination of their care and support by providing patient history when a patient is hospitalized, as well as communicating referrals to local resources using natural language processing and standard based document exchange.
Dr. Martin is able to convert unstructured documents such as pdfs and faxes into CCDAs that can be automated by her EHR, improving her workflow, while still maintaining the original file that can be faxed to her local community. By embracing Direct Secure Messaging and Cloud Fax, Dr Martin is able to forget about the modality and focus on the message to close care gaps, improve outcomes, and optimize workflows.

Unstructured data plagues the healthcare industry, as it resists automation and bogs down workflows. With the implementation of 21st Century Cures Act, more and more information will need to be interoperable outside of your organization. In this session, we will discuss how OCR and Natural Language Processing can close the digital divide in Healthcare. Join us in this exciting session we will discuss:
- The challenges healthcare has faced in structuring and sharing its data.
- How AI can help to close technology gaps and unlock the potential of these important documents to improve the delivery of healthcare, quality reporting, research, and safety.
- Important factors to consider when selecting an AI automation solution.
- How utilizing OCR, NLP, CCDAs, standard-based integrations can help close the digital divide in healthcare.

Karim Galil, M.D., CEO & Co-Founder, Mendal.ai
Karim is an MD with an entrepreneurial spirit. His first company Kryptonworx led health tech in the MENA region with customers like Pfizer and the Ministry of Health in UAE. Karim has also aided companies such as Sirona and Straumann in the field of medical image processing. Karim is the co-founder and CEO of Mendel.ai, an AI platform built to turbocharge oncology clinical research by rigorously examining every piece of EMR data.
Losing both patience and too many patients, Galil was inspired to create an organized and artificially intelligent system to match those under his care with the best diagnostic and treatment methods available. At Mendel, Karim continues to innovate AI-powered solutions to real-world healthcare challenges.
Therasa Bell, President, Kno2
Combining her passion for healthcare and extensive technology expertise, Therasa Bell created Kno2 as market forces began to drive more effective, lighter-weight healthcare solutions.
